In the Bellarine Peninsula's only ongoing Jewellery making course you will spend 3 hours a night for 6 x consecutive Monday nights in the studio with John, in this time you will learn many of the fundamentals needed in creating multiple pierces of jewellery. Since starting offering jewellery making classes John has found the desire to learn 'that little bit more' has been a high priority for many of our previous attendees. So with that ringing in his ears he has put together this short introductory course for you all. Whether it's to have a bit of fun and reward yourself with some personally made jewellery, or to actually delve deeper and decide whether Jewellery making could be an ongoing career for you, this is the class you need...
John is more than happy to point you in the right direction with purchasing tools and finding suppliers to help you in developing your own bespoke jewellery making business if you feel it is something you would like to pursue..
In Johns fully equipped studio you will make 3 x different pieces and will learn the techniques required to...
- Use a rolling mill
- Use a vernier calliper for measuring
- Use a saw and cut your designs from flat metal
- File and emery
- Drill
- Create textures with hammers and/or burs
- Anneal and solder
- Use formulas to estimate and measure to your exact finger size
- Make wire
- Plus countless other techniques needed to create your pieces
This truely is a great insight into what's required in becoming a working Jeweller and as such it is an experience that is not often offered. The course will give you a small insight into how Jewellery is constructed, you will learn new skills, you will have a chance to ask questions concerning the Industry, you will totally surprise yourself with your results and you will have a blast doing so.
